The primary role of the college supervisor is to serve as the liaison between Wilson College/TIP Director/Placement Coordinator and the public/private school where the students are assigned for the Pre-Practicum, Practicum, or Intern Practicum Experience. The supervisor’s responsibilities include: attend orientation, review lesson plans, review and respond to weekly reflections, conduct observations, communicate candidate’s progress to the Teacher Intern Program Director/Placement Coordinator, provide feedback, complete required evaluations and documents, and write a letter of recommendation. College Supervisors must be available to visit schools on varying days throughout the week (though they may schedule observations around their other commitments). In addition, they must respond to e-mails within 24 business hours.
This is a semester appointment. Once approved, college supervisors are placed on a list and used as needed, based on area(s) of certification and geographical location.
Currently the needs are in the following areas: science (mainly biology), foreign languages, health & physical education, and special education.
Qualifications: Retired Educators are prime candidates. The candidate must have a minimum of three years of teaching experience, a Master’s degree in some area of education, and a teacher certification.
