Writing Support

The Writing Lab at Wilson College

In the Wilson College Writing Lab, trained, faculty-recommended graduate assistants and undergraduate peer tutors provide both online and in-person feedback on all stages of the writing process, from brainstorming to proofreading.  Writing tutors also support students working on papers in many different disciplines.

Many students report that the thoughtful guidance they receive from tutors helps them develop both their writing skills and confidence.  However, it is important to note that tutors will not simply "correct" every grammatical or mechanical error in a draft.  During both in-person and online sessions, tutors help students identify a few key areas of concern and provide suggestions to aid writers as they revise their own work.  Consequently, students' work often improves the most when they utilize writing support early and often during a given course or semester (or across multiple courses and semesters).
