Arts Day is an annual Fall event held to celebrate the cross-curricular integration, practice and study of the arts within our broad liberal arts curriculum. We have dedicated the day to recognize, in part, how the arts are tied to the disciplines taught at Wilson College, and why it is important to appreciate these connections.
The Wilson College Common Hour is a weekly presentation comprised of speakers from Wilson and other local colleges. The speakers are a part of either the Orr Forum, which is focused on the return of the apocalypse, or the Confronting Climate Change Forum. More information >>
Convocation brings together the Wilson community – students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends – to celebrate the new academic year.
The 2017 Convocation is at 11 a.m., Sept. 12, in the Alumnae Chapel in Thomson Hall.
The event begins with the procession of Wilson faculty and seniors in full regalia, followed by the rest of the student body.
Convocation’s theme this year is Opportunity. The speaker is TBD.
The ceremony concludes with all new Wilson members signing the Honor Principle and a recessional of faculty and the student body.
Convocation, from the Latin convocare, can be translated as a "calling together", and defined as a "ceremonial assembly of members of a college or university".
Wilson College has a long-standing tradition of calling together her members twice a year, at the beginning of each semester. Held in the Alumnae Chapel, Thomson Hall, faculty, students, staff and adminstrators are all called to participate in this important academic event.
